About Food Garden Life Media

Food Garden Life Media helps people spend time outdoors with fun and practical garden, food, and outdoors information served up in plain English.

We’re the source for informed home horticulture.

Daughter-Father Duo

Steven Biggs and Emma Biggs

We’re the daughter-father duo who bring you The Food Garden Life Show, this website, and weekly e-mail newsletters.

  • Emma Biggs is a 18-year-old Gen-Z gardener, author, and speaker who is crazy about growing tomatoes. Emma is the recipient of the 2020 GardenComm Emergent Communicator Award.

  • Steven Biggs is a horticulturist who teaches and writes about food production.

How it Started

We’ve worked together in garden communications since Emma was in elementary school.

We started with the local speaking circuit, doing small events, and that grew to include everything from neighbourhood library events to national gardening shows.

We’ve also written two kids gardening books: Grow Gardeners and Gardening with Emma.

Creating Food Garden Life

We started our Food Garden Life Podcast and brand when schools shut down during the COVID pandemic. We were both stuck at home. And were were both missing all of our favourite gardening shows, events, and friends.

So we decided we’d reach out to the world through podcasting.

It’s been a fun ride! In 2022 we received the Landscape Ontario Garden Communicator Award for The Food Garden Life Show.

These Days

We host a live monthly radio show, podcast weekly, blog, hang out on social media, speak and teach at gardening events, and are expert guests on radio, TV, and other podcasts.

We live in Toronto.
